Get started

Tulum

Located 20 minutes south, we suggest you get there early before the tour buses arrive. There are small admission and parking fees.

Cobá

One-hour drive south to Tulum, turn right at the sign. Here you will find the tallest temple pyramid on the Yucatan Peninsula. This is an enormous site in the jungle amidst 5 lakes. Take insect repellent, and of course, it will be cooler in the morning. Lunch is available at Villas Arqueológicas.

Chichén Itzá

A 3-hour drive north towards the Cancun Airport. Turn west onto the toll road to Coba. From there, head towards the most famous of the Mayan ruins.

Private Playground

Las Casitas now have a private play area for young children behind the homes and near the tennis court. It is the only one in the area and will be fun for all who want a children's playground.

Tennis

Just behind the casitas is the only tennis court in Akumal. It also has lights for playing at night. Tennis rackets and balls are available for casita guests. We have arranged for a Tennis Pro to give lessons to anyone wishing them. Just ask at front desk.

Yoga

Las Casitas has two Yoga studios on our property…one indoor and one in a beautiful outdoor setting under a palapa. Both have ceiling fans and lights. Classes are given by experienced and professional teachers mornings in Tantric, Hatha or Kundalini. All classes focus on the balance, relaxation and activation of all elements associated with well - being. Individual needs and desires are available.

Weddings

Las casitas can provide wedding planners to help make a memorable sunset wedding or Anniversary or Birthday Event. They will plan and execute all aspects of any event. Jusk ask for contacts.

Cenotes

A cenote is a natural pit, or sinkhole, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater…usually fresh water…underneath. Especially associated with the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico, cenotes were sometimes used by the ancient Maya for sacrificial offerings. There are quite a few near Akumal.

When putting up the security wall around Las Casitas property, we noticed a few small holes that led to the underground aquafer in the jungle. We opened up the area to create a wonderful, natural looking Cenote, put sand around to make walking easier, and built an entrance arch, created a waterfall and built a large palapa.

Sian Ka’an Reserve

Located 40 km south on the Boca Paila road. This park consists of a protected 1.3 million-acre biosphere (mangrove swamp, forest, and savanna with lots of wildlife). See our reception to provide you with tour suggestions for this day-long trip.
